Ashanti Douglas, also known as Ashanti was is born in Glen Cove New York United States on October 13th 1980. Ashanti is an United States singer, songwriter and actor. Ashanti gained fame as when she was a teen. In 2002, she was signed to Murder Inc. Records. That same year she appeared in The Fat Joe's What's Luv? The song "What's love?" by Fat Joe as well as Ja Rule, entitled Always on Time were both huge hits. The moment she dropped her single, What's Luv, at number two at the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and Foolish at #1 with Foolish as her first single, she was the only female artist to accomplish this feat. Tina Douglas is the mother of Ashanti, and Ken Kaide Douglas serves as the the father. She is the eldest and the Kenashia Shia Douglas who is older sister. Douglas named Ashanti in honor of the Ashanti Empire where women enjoyed the power and influence. Douglas hoped Ashanti would follow in the footsteps of the Ashanti Empire. James' grandfather was associated with Martin Luther King Jr. as a civil rights advocate during the 1960s. Ashanti's mother discovered her daughter's talent as she listened to her sing Mary J. Blige's Reminisce. Ashanti made an appearance in the film of Spike Lee's Malcolm X (1992) as well as Ted Demme's Who's the Man? as an extra in her youth. Some of her appearances were in music video clips, such as K.R.S. Act One's MC's"Like They Don't Know" and 8 Off's Ghetto Woman. After years of being wooed by various record companies including Bad Boy, Jive and others Ashanti still struggled as an artist. However her persistence, she continued to perform at New York. Additionally, she was featured in Fat Joe's "What's Luv?" Ja Rule's "Always on Time" and Fat Joe's What's Luv! The debut single Foolish includes a sample of the track of DeBarge titled Stay with Me. Ashanti has released her debut album, which was titled "Ashanti", in 2002 on Irv Getti's Murder Inc. Record Label. The Declaration was Ashanti's fourth studio album, which was which was released on June 3, 2008. Hey Baby (After The Club) came out on radio stations and digital platforms on 16 October. She starred in the film Christmas in the City and as Latasha Montclair on Army Wives. Aitch has sampled Rock wit U in his Baby on March 10, 2022.
